Cor Challenge FAQ
What is the Cor Challenge?
The Cor Challenge is a 5-day giving event that encourages the University of Dallas community to support the Cor Fund. Conceived by the National Alumni Board in 2012, the Cor Challenge was launched to combat a downward national trend in alumni giving. The Cor Challenge has raised over $800,000 for UD faculty and students since it began. For the 2020 Cor Challenge, our goal is to raise $200,000 from 750 donors—which would be the most successful challenge yet.
When is it?
The Cor Challenge will take place from February 11– 15, with a special happy hour event at Celestial Beerworks in Dallas from 2-6pm on Saturday, February 15.
Can I set my own challenge?
Thanks to our generous UD community, we’re able to offer several matches and challenges to encourage giving. If you would like to put forward your own challenge or match, please contact Mike Pitstick ’15, Associate Director of Annual Giving, at email@example.com or (972) 265-5849.
How do I give to an existing challenge?
If you qualify for any of the challenges or matches posted, your gift will automatically count toward it. For example, all members of the Class of 1999’s gifts will count toward the Class of 1999 challenge, and all parent gifts will count toward the parent challenge.
What forms of donations are accepted?
MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express donations received through the website as well as in-person gifts delivered to University Advancement from Feb. 11-15 will count toward our goal.
Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will automatically receive an emailed receipt acknowledging your gift.
Where is my gift going?
Your gift goes directly to the Cor Fund, the lifeblood of UD. It supports the ongoing work of our faculty and the education and formation of our students. The Cor Fund gives the university the flexibility to address the most pressing needs of our students and faculty.
Is there a minimum gift?
There is a $5 minimum donation.
How will the donation be reported on my credit card?
Gifts made during the Cor Challenge will appear on donors' credit cards as The University of Dallas.
What if I already made a gift to UD this year?
Thank you for being part of the UD donor family! We appreciate your commitment and encourage you to make an additional gift of any size during the Cor Challenge. We also need your help to promote the challenge! We have created sample email and social media posts to help you do this more easily, which are located in the Ambassador Toolkit on the site.
What is GiveGab?
GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. The University of Dallas has partnered with GiveGab to execute this year’s Cor Challenge.
